Last Saturday a young single mother called the church and in tears told us that her 17 year old daughter was sexually active, stealing, lying and disrespectful to her mother and younger sister. Brother Ken asked the single mother if her daughter would be willing to come to Jacob's Well the next day for the Sunday morning service. The mother called back Saturday night and said that her daughter had reluctantly agreed.
The mother and daughter showed up for service the next day and during the praise and worship music, a great emotional battle showed in the young daughter's face and body language. Our church does not put off salvation and deliverance until the end of the service.
Brother Ken called some of our ladies and the mother and daughter to the church alter. Brother Ken gently asked the daughter if she was ready to be set free from her present life style. Sneering and emotions of grief and pain pasted over the young girl's face. She said, "Yes, I want to be free, but I can't."
Brother Ken asked her, "What's stopping you?"
Her response was simply, "Satan."
Brother Ken told her, "If you want to be freed from bondage, the power of God through the blood of Jesus can set you free."
She then said, "Brother Ken, help me." Brother Ken helped her say the sinner's prayer, accepting Jesus Christ as her savior and asking forgiveness of her sins. She smiled after this and a new light appeared in her face. Brother Ken then asked her to pray to Jesus to rid her body of the demons of lust, lying and self abusers (cutting one's flesh). As Brother Ken and the church ladies anointed her with oil and laid their hands on her, she began to shake, cough and tremble and her eyes rolled back in her head. On the church carpet, the battle of good vs. evil was short and violent and then it was over. Peace, joy and love filled the young girl's face.
Helping her to her feet with tears and sobs, she asked her mother's forgiveness. She then said in a strong, emotional voice, "It is real. God is real. I feel His love and mercy and I feel clean."
Thank God, Jesus, and this church. Praise and glory be to God, to Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit. This church is so blessed to be able in Jesus's name set the captives free!
